NC Gov McCrory's HB2 social media buy isn't working out so well

North Carolina’s upcoming one term governor Pat McCrory is taking to social media to defend and “clarify” HB2.  His sponsored messages are popping up in Tarheel newsfeeds daily.  Judging by the comments his posts are receiving, the governor isn’t exactly swaying the voters his way.

Today’s post was titled “4 facts about the commonsense bathroom law that you won't hear out of the special interest attack groups” with a “Learn More” link to the governor’s latest spin.   And here’s how North Carolinians are responding…

”Who are these "special interest attack groups"?  IBM, who employs 14,000 people in North Carolina? Special interest attack group!  How about Bank of America, who also employs more than 10,000 people in North Carolina? Why that's just a special interest, left-wing, good-for-nothing PC attack group!  What about 50% of the population of North Carolina? Special interest! Attack group!  The parallel universe that Pee Pee Pat lives in must be truly fascinating...”

”This has been a disaster for both the state and it's residents. Let go of your ego and repeal the law.”

”It's nice to be a "special interest attack group" is that what we call educated intelligent rationale folks these days.”

”HB2 is an "anti-discrimination policy" in the same way that Jim Crow laws were sweeping improvements in racial tolerance.”

”Are these the four facts you knew about before signing the law, or four of the facts you've just now found out about after finally reading that piece of trash?”

”Come on folks, EVOLVE already.”

”I can't believe you're still trying to just push this off as nothing but a bathroom bill. Whose pocket are you in? Cannot wait to vote in the next election.”

”This is a perfect example of Christians in the South needing new leaders. Really folks?! Christianity is defended at the toilet? Not the poor, the sick, the elderly like Jesus would do but the public toilet?”

If you hunt carefully, you can find the occasional comment supportive of the governor’s position— just 1 out of 15 by my count.

I’d say the governor’s social media buy, like the $46,000 spent on the special legislative session to push this turd out, has been money down the gender-patrolled toilet.
